Motile Bacteria

Motile flagellated bacteria -   some bacteria are motile due to presence of flagella. These are –

i)                    Vibrio cholera
ii)                   Spirillum minus
iii)                 Salmonella typhi .
iv)                 Bacillus subtilis
v)                  Clostridium tetani

Motile non-flagellated bacteria -  Spirochetes are motile but they do not possess any flagellum or                                                               cilia or pseudopodium . Movement of this group of bacteria takes                                                           place equally in a forward or backword direction . They will                                                                   move by the  process of cork screw motion ( flexion of body and                                                           rotation around the long axis ) . or by a general movement of                                                                 protoplasm . these bacteria are Trep. Pallidum  , Leoptospira                                                                   icterohaemorrhagiae , Borrelia recurrent
